The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards hosted a live competition at the 2010 EO NERVE Conference in Washington, DC on Thursday, 22 April 2010.

Six top student entrepreneurs from across the Eastern USA presented their businesses to a panel of Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) Members with two (2) finalists advancing to the 2010 GSEA Global Finals.


COMPETITION RESULTS:

First Place – Catherine Cook – Marketing Major at Georgetown University – Co-Founder of www.MyYearbook.com – MyYearbook describes itself as the best place to meet new people. You can connect with friends and make new friends while playing social games, earning Lunch Money, supporting your favorite causes, and much more. The company has over 22,000,000 members and is adding 20,000 new members/day and operates with 80 employees in 3 offices. Comscore rankings: MyYearbook.com receives more US pageviews than Twitter, more pageviews per unique than MySpace, 2nd to only Facebook in pageviews/unique, top 25 site in US for minutes spent, pageviews, and visits per unique IP.

Second Place – Connor Hood – Entrepreneurship Major at Babson College – Founder and CEO of www.Elite-CSS.com – Elite-CSS services provide an easy avenue for designers and small businesses to convert their design files into valid HTML code ready for the web.  Although in this line of business, PSD to xHTML conversion, sounds complicated, the concept is simple.

Third Place – Nick Kingsbury – Economics Major at Hofstra University – Founder and CEO of Hazard Line (www.HazardLine.com) - Hazard Line produces jewellery and apparel made from traffic cones.  A portion of its revenues fund its sister organization, Project Green, which is an environmental charity.

Fourth Place – Danny Wong – Communications Major at Bentley College – Co-Founder of Blank Label (www.Blank-Label.com) – As an e-commerce custom dress shirt company, Blank Label aspires to change the fundamental relationship between consumer and producer through the process of co-creation and phenomenon of mass-customization.

Fifth Place – Brittany Rose – Marketing Major at Virginia Commonwealth University – Founder and CEO of More Than Cheer, LLC (www.MoreThanCheer.com) – More Than Cheer is a cheerleading consulting company that collaborates with sports/children activity organizations in Virginia to bring quality cheerleading instruction. More Than Cheer provides individual/small group instruction, camps, clinics, and classes.

Sixth Place – Jonathan Muntz – Entrepreneurship Major at Saint Joseph’s University – Co-Founder of Captain Dick’s BBQ – Enjoy the best southern-style barbeque, excellent service, and award winning food all in your backyard! We use only the best free-range meats and organic foods available for every party. Unfortunately, Jonathan was unable to attend due to serious health issues and we wish him the best on his journey to recovery.
