The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Program is the premier award for students that own and run businesses while attending a high school, college or university.

Selected applicants compete against their peers by presenting their businesses to a panel of judges. All participating students receive feedback from the judges. The top regional and national winners advance to the 2013 GSEA Global Finals for the opportunity to engage with world class entrepreneurs, receive media exposure, win cash, and share in over $150,000 in donated business services.

Peter Thomas, the Chairman Emeritus of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, founder of Century 21 Real Estate and social entrepreneur, has presented EO with the single largest gift to EO and student entrepreneurship. Peter has supported EO since 1990 when he donated his time to help create the chapter structure and launch the first series of EO chapters in Canada, USA and Mexico. Through his efforts, he embodies EO values by giving back and supporting entrepreneurship. Since 1990, Peter has helped launch more than 15 EO chapters, hosted more than 50 EO recruitment events, has spoke to more than 25 EO chapters and supported EO’s Accelerator program. Most recently, Peter has found a passion in supporting student entrepreneurship through GSEA.

Since Peter’s initial involvement as a donor, GSEA has expanded from 150 student entrepreneurs, to more than 2,000; from supporting student entrepreneurs in six countries, to more than 33 countries. For the past three years, Peter has been a featured final round judge, mentor and donor to student entrepreneurs through GSEA.  As Peter noted to GSEA, “When you have time, you give time. When you have money, you give money. When you have time and money, you give both.”

Peter’s gift has inspired past GSEA alumni, including Adam Blake, GSEA 2004 winner, and Seth Flowerman, GSEA’s 2008 third place winner, to become donors. Stephen Seal, EO Portland member, also has been a donor for the past two years.

Peter is not only helping to support the next generation of student entrepreneurs, but also the next generation of philanthropists.
