2009 Sweden Student Entrepreneur National Champion Awarded
The 2009 Sweden Student Entrepreneur National Champion is Arvid Morin founder of Ung Omsorg (Young Care). Morin, a student of the Stockholm School of Economics, was awarded by the Swedish Foundation for Small Business Research (FSF) and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillvaxtverket).
Ung Omsorg is a unique care and employment agency which arranges for young upper-secondary students to visit retirement homes as “social consultants.” The concept is established in Sweden with 400 employees. The young people are placed in positions in retirement homes, helping the elderly by taking them for walks, reading the news to them and socializing with them. Through there activities the company is creating bridges between generations and also inspiring young people to work in the care sector in the future. Young Care has three aims: to activate elderly people at retirement homes, to give young people a chance to make an impact and have a real job, and to create bridges between generations. The project has been highlighted by both Swedish press and politicians, for example the Minister of Elderly care, Maria Larsson.
Congratulations on the continued success Arvid and to the entire Ung Omsorg team!
